‘Ebro In the Morning’ Suddenly Shut Down: Here’s What Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez And Peter Rosenberg Say

Two of New York City‘s most popular Hip-Hop morning shows have suddenly shut down. The shocking news started on Friday morning when co-hosts Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg confirmed that Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning show, which has been running since 2012, is now over. Later on Friday, listeners learned that 94.7 The Block (WXBK) has made changes as well, removing radio personalities Miss Jones and Ed Lover from the station’s website, Radio Ink reported.

What did Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg say about the end of the ‘Ebro in the Morning’ show?

The Hot 97 cohosts first went to social media on Friday and released cryptic messages about the end of their show. Ebro wrote on X that “it’s done,” but there’s “more to come.”

Meanwhile, Rosenberg wrote a message expressing gratitude.

“I lived out a childhood dream and it was amazing,” he wrote. “Very excited for what’s next #ebrointhemorning #reallate.”

Stylez went to Instagram to leave an emotional tribute to the show.

“We had the best time… the most beautiful listeners and got to work with legends I love,” she wrote to Instagram. “I’m so proud of the work we did together… I lived so many of my dreams at Hot97 and got to work with my best friends! ….and best friends don’t let go… trust me, @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio and I have plans and more coming next year!”

As the hosts said their emotional goodbyes, Rosenberg’s spokesperson confirmed that “the show as it stands is in fact over,” Billboard reported. Rosenberg still had more to say as it became clear that the show is over.

“Almost 19 years later it comes to a close … longest tenured morning host ever at the station,” Rosenberg wrote on Instagram. “Became friends with my heroes. The future is very exciting but I’m filled with gratitude for the past. @oldmanebro plucked me out of obscurity in DC and put this mic in my hand.”

What are the plans for Hot 97 after the station ended ‘Ebro in the Morning’?

The details about Hot 97’s plans are still unclear after the station removed Ebro in the Morning. However, a spokesperson for syndication distributor Super Radio Networks told RadioInsight that the company is “fully committed” to supporting Ebro.

“While the distribution of Ebro in the Morning in its current form is ending, Superadio remains fully committed to the Ebro brand,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to bring Ebro’s voice and talent to the masses across new platforms, which we’ll be sharing more about very soon.”

The future for Miss Jones and Ed Lover is also unclear at this time, as 94.7 The Block has not yet confirmed what’s next for the station or the radio personalities.
