A24 has just dropped the full official trailer for The Drama, a tense and mysterious relationship thriller directed by Kristoffer Borgli in his latest collaboration with A24 after Sick of Myself and Dream Scenario.
The Drama is set for release in April and tells a tense love story that begins to unravel just days before the couple ties the knot, as one of them discovers unsettling truths about their partner. Although the trailer doesn’t give away much about the twist, it does hint at a shock that affects not only the couple but also their circle of friends.
The film stars Zendaya as Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Robert Pattinson as Charlie Thompson, a museum director from London and Emma’s fiancé. Their impending nuptials seem to set off a downward spiral that pits love, trust, and self-identity against one another.
The movie also stars Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates. Borgli is known for his dark explorations of ego, morality, and performance in social settings, and The Drama seems to be no exception.
Although the trailer doesn’t give away the twist, it does show how emotional and paranoid this couple is as they try to deal with the new information.
