The Super Bowl is known for its jaw-dropping halftime shows, high-stakes plays—and iconic renditions of the national anthem. Each year, fans wait to see which artist will take on the legendary moment under the stadium lights.
This year, a New Jersey native will step up to the mic.
Charlie Puth is set to sing the national anthem as the New England Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks at the Super Bowl, CBS News reported. Puth first expressed his excitement about the opportunity in November when he announced that he has been chosen for the honor at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this… I will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX,” Puth wrote on Instagram at that time.
How did Charlie Puth find his love for music?
Charlie Puth found his love for music at an early age as he found inspiration from his mother, who was a music teacher, CBS News reported.
“My ten-year-old brain thought, ‘I could just listen to the record and play it back just by hearing it.’ And I thought that was a ‘normal’ thing!” Puth said in a 2022 interview with CBS News.
Speaking to the Boston Globe in 2015, Puth also revealed that he grew up next to Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. The Grammy-nominated artist rose to fame as he showed off his talents in YouTube videos.
One of his most successful videos from those early days is his cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” In 2016, Puth released Nine Track Mind, his debut album. Since then, Puth has also earned the chance to work with Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Trey Songz and many more artists.
Who decides who sings the national anthem at the Super Bowl?
The NFL has been working with Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, since 2019 to select the national anthem singer for the Super Bowl.
In 2025, Jon Batiste sang the national anthem as the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Kansas City Chiefs. A year earlier, country music icon Reba McEntire took the honor. In 2023, country singer Chris Stapleton sang the anthem.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Brandi Carlile will also sing “America The Beautiful” before Sunday’s Super Bowl while Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
