The Pitt is about to undergo some cast changes.
Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan on the HBO Max series, will leave the medical drama as it heads into its third season. While the series will weather a departure, it will also welcome Ayesha Harris as a series regular. Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, has been recurring until her Season 3 promotion.
Ganesh’s departure isn’t meant to be a devastating event for the series. As Variety notes, “Ganesh’s exit is a story-driven decision,” as the fictional hospital, the Pittsburgh Trauma Medica Center, is a teaching hospital and as such, staff turnover at real-life teaching hospitals is a normal occurrence. Ganesh’s character also had a lot of time in Season 2 to think about what she would do next in her medical career after her tenure.
Harris’s character has been around since Season 1 as a senior resident on the hospital’s night shift. Now that Harris has been upped to series regular, it will be interesting to see how Dr. Ellis is further integrated into the series.
When does ‘The Pitt’s season finale air?
The Pitt airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on HBO Max, with the Season 2 finale airing April 16.
