The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges with Gbenga Akinnagbe, Alia Shawkat, John Lithgow, Navid Negahban and more, has been canceled after two seasons at FX.
The series starred Bridges as Dan Chase, a former CIA operative who is on the run after killing a home intruder.
Season 2 escalated the drama after the operative’s daughter (Shawkat) is kidnapped by an Afghan tribal leader (Negahban).
The personal tragedy brings Chase into a tentative partnership with former FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper (Lithgow), who originally wanted to arrest him, but now sees him as an asset to track down the tribal leader.
The series also starred Jacqueline Antaramian, Amy Brenneman, E.J. Bonilla and Bill Heck.

In Season 2 of FX’s The Old Man, former CIA agent Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) and former FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper (John Lithgow) set off on their most important mission to date — to recover Emily Chase (Alia Shawkat) after she is kidnapped by “Faraz Hamzad” (Navid Negahban), a powerful Afghan tribal leader. With all three men claiming her as their daughter, Emily finds herself in an identity crisis that has dire implications. As Chase and Harper fight their way to get to Emily, Hamzad is forced to make decisions that could endanger his family and the village he has led faithfully for a lifetime.
The series is based on Thomas Perry’s book of the same name. It was created for television by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine.
The cancellation comes seemingly as a result of the series spending two years away from the airwaves between its first and second seasons. Even if this time allowed for much of the series’ audience to dissipate, critics and the fans who remained still loved the series.
