Music lovers are gearing up for Spotify’s annual Wrapped, an end-of-the-year personalized snapshot of users’ most played songs, artists and genres on the streaming platform.
Spotify has provided users with an overview of their listening trends each year since 2016, The Associated Press reported. Over the years, Spotify Wrapped has become a widespread phenomenon across the United States and the world. Wrapped had its biggest year in 2023, with more users than ever exploring its offerings in the platform’s app.
From Your Top Artist showcases to Sound Town and video thank-you messages from favorite artists, listeners are eager to see if this year’s Wrapped will surpass the previous ones, according to Spotify’s For the Record.
What can users expect from this year’s Spotify Wrapped?
Spotify collects data and provides users with an overview of their activity on the platform over the past year.
Listeners can see their favorite songs, artists, albums and podcasts in one snapshot to share with friends and on social media.
Users can also compare their audio engagements with others. Additionally, Spotify creates playlists based on national and global listening trends and featuring the year’s top streamed artists and songs, per AP.
While Wrapped provides an overview of user activity on the app, each year also introduces something new that sets it apart from the last.
What is the expected release date?
Spotify has yet to announce an official release date for Wrapped. Instead, the company shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, teasing users about the upcoming snapshot.
“Wrapped is coming… bets on your Top Artist?” the platform tweeted.

In past years, Spotify Wrapped was released shortly after Thanksgiving, typically between the end of November and early December.
Newsweek reported that users revealed in X posts that they were trying to hack the Spotify system by listening to certain songs on repeat to change their results. However, the company has a cut-off date and stops collecting data on Oct. 31.
Are there other streaming services that offer alternatives to Wrapped?
Yes. Other streaming services offer similar alternatives to Wrapped if someone does not have a Spotify account, according to Yahoo! News.
Here are the top streaming platforms that provide year-end reviews:

While Wrapped is exclusive to Spotify, these other streaming platforms offer similar features that allow users to track their listening habits.
