Pop superstar Lizzo has secured a partial win in the legal battle stemming from allegations brought by her former stylist, Asha Daniels. A California court has dismissed several claims in Daniels’ lawsuit against Lizzo and her tour company, citing technical grounds related to jurisdiction and evidence.

Daniels accused Lizzo’s team of creating a racially and sexually hostile work environment, failing to pay overtime, and fostering harassment during her time on tour. However, court documents reveal that the judge ruled U.S. labor laws do not apply to the incidents Daniels alleged occurred in Europe. Additionally, the court found no evidence to support Daniels’ claims of unpaid overtime.

Lizzo’s legal team welcomed the ruling, with her attorney characterizing the lawsuit as “baseless.” They emphasized that Daniels was employed for only three weeks and failed to follow instructions during her time on the tour. Lizzo’s camp has consistently denied the allegations, calling them false and stating their intention to fight until all accusations are dismissed.

Daniels has yet to comment on the court’s decision, leaving the next steps in this contentious legal saga uncertain.
