See who DeSean Jackson has added to the Delaware State football roster this winter

DeSean Jackson has hit the transfer portal hard after the Delaware State football team was hit by a few losses themselves.

Late last week, the Hornets announced 18 new signees, including several athletes from HBCUs.

Headlining this class is Mississippi Valley State transfer Tyler Hunt, expected to give a boost to the offensive line following the departure of all-MEAC lineman Isaiah Cook to Rutgers.

Tight end Marquis Smith also joins the Hornets from Virginia State, where he caught 21 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in 2025.

Delaware State signed former William & Mary quarterback Noah Brannock, who competed in eight games for the Tribe last season. Brannock completed 14 of 27 passes for 188 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while rushing 16 times for 36 yards and a touchdown. He will likely compete with returner Jayden Sauray for the starting quarterback spot this spring and summer.

To replace Marquis Gillis and James Jones in the running back room, the Hornets added Louisville transfer Shaun Boykins Jr., who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals’ win over Kentucky last season.

Another Division II signee for Delaware State is California (Pa.) receiver Deontae Williams. Williams caught 37 passes for 517 for the Vulcans, who defeated Virginia Union in the NCAA Division II playoffs last season.

Most of the Delaware State signees came on the defensive side of the ball, including Utah State linebacker Carl Nesmith and Virginia State defensive back Mark Burns.
