Samantha Irvin, a voice known to most WWE fans, recently took to her Instagram comments in order to shed some light on why she left the WWE. She hopes for a role that’s more than just an announcer, and this came in after a conversation between her and user @humble_nigga8 got her talking about the subject.
Irvin replied, “I don’t like announcing, I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer.” Also, she explained that as much as she highly esteems her time at WWE, she just doesn’t have the passion for the announcing role: “I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”
Irvin also came to Ricochet’s defense in her post, clearing up misconceptions. She said, “They wanted Rico to stay in the big leagues. I don’t know why everyone pretending like he was always in great positions at WWE.”
Her comments are bittersweet toward WWE and put in perspective her drive to pursue creative positions in wrestling which she felt WWE didn’t have in store for her. She left the company on good terms and showed her gratitude for all the memories she could share with the fans. Her words have touched deep in the hearts of the fans and the colleagues, as many did hope to see her talent and her love for wrestling in another promotion or role soon.
