Olivia Rodrigo announced on Thursday that her third album is officially in the works with a release date of June 12th. The pop star introduced the album titled “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” accompanied by an album cover showing Olivia swinging upside down in a baby-pink dress.
“My third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’ is out June 12th,” Olivia Rodrigo stated. “I am so proud of this record, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
Fans were speculating about Olivia’s album in the weeks leading up to it. Olivia’s album cover was first hinted at in March when a purple mural in Los Angeles was painted with the initials “OR,” matching the color scheme of Olivia’s past albums. The mural was repainted pink, matching the dress Olivia is wearing on the album cover. The mural was then altered to include the word “love,” which is believed to be the title of Olivia’s album.
Olivia cleared her Instagram account before the announcement, leaving the album announcement as the only post. She also changed her Instagram photo to a doll wearing a pink dress. Olivia’s fans were posting about the album in the weeks leading up to its release under the hashtags #OliviaIsComing and #OR3.
Pre-orders of the album sold out in under an hour. Olivia posted a link in her Instagram stories with the caption: “He thought desire came without inherent suffering! He is mad!!!” Olivia’s album “Guts,” released in 2023, was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. No information about Olivia’s tour or music festival appearances in relation to the album was found. Olivia is not scheduled to appear at any music festivals in the summer.
