Norfolk State drops to 1-10 under Michael Vick after loss to Morgan State

Morgan State’s three-game losing streak is now a thing of the past.

Redshirt freshman QB Raymond Moore III‘s one-yard keeper with six minutes left in the fourth quarter was the difference as the Bears defeated Norfolk State 35-28.

The win is the Bears’ first MEAC triumph of the season and their first overall since their 44-6 homecoming win over Virginia-Lynchburg Oct. 11.

Moore completed 16 of 22 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns to go with his game-winning run.

Norfolk State (1-9, 0-4 MEAC) took a 28-21 lead on a 10-yard run by receiver DreSean Kendrick with 17 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

Morgan State responded with a drive of their own, capped by Moore throwing a 13-yard scoring pass to Justin Perry to tie things up.

A couple of possession later, Moore got into the end zone from a yard out and after Norfolk State came up empty on their final drive, the Bears ran out the clock.

Randall Nauden, another redshirt freshman for Morgan State, led the team with 87 rushing yards on 22 carries and scored a touchdown. Norfolk State dominated on the ground with both Kevon King (14 carries, 189 yards) and X’Zavion Evans (15 carries, 107 yards) both crossing the 100-yard mark.

Sophomore quarterback Vinson Berry completed 17 of 31 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns but also threw two costly interceptions for the Spartans.

Norfolk State’s losing streak now stands at nine games, with one final chance against Howard next week at Audi Field to break that streak.

Morgan State hosts North Carolina Central in their season finale next Saturday.
