Bobbi Althoff, a social media sensation who has gained a reputation for her weird and wacky interviews and viral content, drove the internet wild this week after she subtly teased her love life with a rather cryptic Instagram post.

In minutes, fans and detectives focused their efforts on NFL cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting. The Arizona Cardinals player who currently is a former Super Bowl winner in 2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneer became an internet frontrunner for Althoff’s alleged boyfriend. However, he quickly denied the rumors.
On Tuesday night, Murphy-Bunting responded to a post by NFL insider Dov Kleiman, who suggested he was the man in Althoff’s Instagram picture. “That’s not me,” the cornerback replied plainly, putting an apparent end to the speculation.

Still, the rumors didn’t come out of nowhere. Murphy-Bunting and Althoff share a known friendship, with the influencer previously thanking him for stepping up during a difficult moment.
Over the summer, Althoff posted a story on Instagram expressing gratitude: “Last night was scary but thankful for having good friends in my life like @seanmurphybunting for looking out for me.”

TMZ further fanned the flames with a story detailing a night out where Murphy-Bunting seemed to come to Althoff’s aid during a scary situation. The outlet, citing witnesses, wrote that Murphy-Bunting was overheard carrying Althoff into an SUV after checking on her well-being outside of a bar. A source close to the group that night made it clear the cornerback was just being a good friend.
For now, Althoff has kept her love life close to her chest, thus giving way to even wilder guesses from her followers. And knowing the influencer for stirring intrigue, it is anybody’s guess when she clears the air-or if at all.
One thing is clear: whoever her mystery man is, Althoff’s “soft launch” has definitely sent tongues wagging. Whether it was intentional or not, her post has the internet once again playing detective.
