Music Money Moves: How Tyga Amassed His $8 Million Net Worth

Rapper Tyga has been delivering hits since 2007 and the West Coast star has not taken a break yet. After kicking off his career with underground releases, he signed with Gym Class Heroes star Travie McCoy’s label, Decaydance Records. He unveiled his first studio album, No Introduction, in 2008. That same year, Tyga signed a new deal with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment, an imprint of Cash Money Records. He would go on to make one of his inaugural appearances with the crew on their 2009 hit single Bedrock, which also featured his new labelmates, Wayne, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Jae Millz alongside Lloyd.

From there, the world became familiar with this party anthem creator, who has remained a staple in the Los Angeles music scene ever since. Thanks to his collaborations and even entrepreneurial endeavors, Tyga has amassed an $8 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth

Tyga Has Sold Millions of Records

After joining Young Money, Tyga’s career took off. In 2010, he unveiled his joint mixtape, Fan of a Fan, with Chris Brown. Together, they released their single Deuces, which reached number 14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration

His second album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, was released in February 2012 under Young Money. One of the biggest records from the album, Rack City, arrived shortly before its release and became a cultural phenomenon. The single would go on to become five times platinum, with the album as a whole achieving platinum status. Tyga’s third studio album, Hotel California, arrived in April 2013 and was another success, achieving gold status, thanks to singles Dope, featuring Rick Ross and For the Road with Chris Brown. Other popular singles that Tyga has unveiled include April 2014’s Hookah with Young Thug, earning yet another platinum plaque. Unfortunately, due to issues with Young Money, his project, The Gold Album, was delayed, though it was finally unveiled in June 2015 on his own independent label, The Last Kings. He would release several other projects, Fan of a Fan: The Album, B***h I’m The S**t 2, Kyoto, and Legendary, the last one including his diamond-certified track, Taste, featuring Offset.

Tyga Made Millions From a New Record Deal

In October 2019, the rapper made another smart business move, signing with Columbia Records. While the exact amount Tyga was paid in that deal is unknown, the contract was reportedly worth millions, according to Variety.

“The independent thing taught me a lot,” he shared at the time. “It was a do-it-yourself motto — learning how to get from point A to point B. Now, doing a deal through Columbia, it’s like I already know the ropes.”

In addition to his deal, in 2024, he hit the road with Nicki Minaj for her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Forbes reported that Tyga was earning $50,000 per show in 2014. With a decade passing, it’s likely he is raking in much more these days. Therefore, the tour run with his former Young Money labelmate was likely a lucrative one.

Diving Into Television

In July 2015, Tyga’s reality television series, Kingin’ with Tyga, was introduced on MTV2. The show aired for two seasons, with six episodes in each. Tyga showcased his day-to-day life, including recording and the lavishness that comes with being a rapper. His television experience didn’t stop there, with Tyga transitioning to a scripted role.

In 2017, he was announced as a cast member on the third season of the Scream series. The third and final season debuted across three nights on VH1, beginning on July 8, 2019, and ending on July 10, 2019, with Tyga tackling the role of Jamal, the older brother of Marcus, played RJ Cyler.
