Mickey Guyton’s Net Worth: How This Country Star Is Breaking Barriers for Black Women in the Genre

Singer Mickey Guyton is one of the greatest Black country musicians of this generation. Beyond becoming the first Black woman solo artist to be Grammy-nominated in a country category for Black Like Me, Guyton was also the first black female artist to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Additionally, she became the first Black woman country musician to sign a major record deal when she inked a contract with UMG’s Capitol Records Nashville division in 2011.

Her Initial Projects Were Short Teasers

After several years with Capitol, Guyton was showcased on a broad stage during a performance at the White House alongside fellow country stars Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Darius Rucker, and James Taylor. After showcasing her stellar vocals at this event, she continued honing her skills and in 2014, Capitol Nashville unveiled Guyton’s first extended play (EP), titled Unbreakable. The four-track EP was a teaser, yet it still gained mass popularity. Unbreakable landed on the Billboard Top Heatseekers list after its release, reaching number 14.

After the success of this short project, her official debut single, Better Than You Left Me, followed. The track reached number 34 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and ushered in a second short self-titled project in May 2015. Another four-pack, this EP made it to number 17 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts. In 2020, she unveiled one of her most notable singles, Black Like Me, which highlighted her experiences with racial discrimination, earning her a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance. This was the lead single to her third EP, Bridges. The six-track project peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Mickey’s Studio Albums Showcased More of her Range

Finally, Mickey Guyton’s debut studio album, titled Remember Her Name, was introduced in September 2021. This full-length album included 16 tracks and achieved the number 7 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. One of her most transparent pieces, the album dived into her ten years living in Nashville, which included sobering experiences of racism and sexism. The album also included a cover of Beyonce’s 208 hit, If I Were a Boy

When Beyoncé unveiled her own country album, Cowboy Carter, in March 2024, she sent Guyton flowers, recognizing her for opening the door for other Black women to thrive in the genre.  Guyton’s sophomore album, House on Fire, debuted in September 2024.  The body of work includes twelve songs, one of the standouts being Nothing Compares to You with Kane Brown. Though it’s unclear just how much Guyton has made from her music, it’s evident that her fans have continuously shown up for her with each release.

Mickey Guyton’s Net Worth in 2024

It’s unknown how much Guyton was compensated in her musical deals, but several outlets, including InTouch, have reported her net worth as being between $1 and $5 million. This is likely due to her music success, which started with songwriting for other country stars.
