‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’: Everything You Should Know, From Performers, Time And Where To Watch

The holiday season officially kicks off with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (sorry, we don’t make the rules)!

For the last 98 years, the annual parade has been home to some of the most notable performances in entertainment, ushering a season of cheer during the morning of the Thanksgiving holiday for nearly 100 years. More than three million people gather in New York City each year to watch the event, and last year, roughly 30 million viewers tuned in to witness all of the action from the comfort of their homes.

The event is filled with some of the most unforgettable floats, balloons almost the same size as some of the buildings, live performances from Hollywood’s biggest stars, and how could one forget the man of the final hour? Santa Claus himself, alongside his wife Mrs. Claus, has closed out the parade each year, signifying that the official countdown to Christmas is on.

Who’s hosting the ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’ this year?

Alison Brie will kick off the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this year’s event.

For the first time ever, renowned choreographer Shay Latukolan will offer his expertise by choreographing the dance performances leading up to the anticipated arrivals of the Tom Turkey and Santa Claus floats.

Today’s Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker will host this year’s three-and-a-half-hour event.

Who’s performing and appearing during this year’s parade?

For almost a century, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been the backdrop to iconic performances from some of the country’s biggest stars. Last year, Beyoncè even made a special virtual appearance to announce her Renaissance World Tour concert film.

This year, fans can anticipate performances and appearances from Cynthia Erivo, Idina Menzel, Chloe Bailey, Billy Porter, Bishop Briggs, Kylie Cantrall, Kylie Minogue, Dan + Shay, Dasha, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Coco Jones, Walker Hayes, Ariana Madix, Joey McIntyre, Idina Menzel, Natti Natasha, T-Pain, Rachel Platten, Lea Salonga, The Temptations, The War and Treaty, Alex Warren and Sebastián Yatra. Charli D’Amelio and ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia will also perform. Other special appearances include Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tom Kenny, Ginna Claire Mason and members of WNBA Champions, New York Liberty, along with their mascot, Ellie the Elephant.

There will be several Broadway performances as well, including Death Becomes Her (featuring Michelle Williams and more), The Outsiders (featuring Sky Lakota Lynch and more) and Hell’s Kitchen.

Of course, the annual event would only be complete with Snoopy, who holds the title as the character with the most appearances, having appeared at 40 different parades with seven different designs since 1968.

Where can I watch the ‘Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’ and what time does it come on?

The official telecast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be available on NBC, but those without cable can watch it live on Peacock from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by an encore that begins at 2 p.m.
