Kendrick Lamar‘s fans are in a frenzy after the Grammy-winning rapper dropped a surprise LP titled GNX.
On Nov. 22, K. Dot posted a photo on Instagram of him leaning on the back of a car with the caption that read, “GNX.” The 12-track project comes two years after Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers.
SZA is featured on tracks “Gloria” and “Luther,” co-written by her and INK. Another artist included was mariachi singer Deyra Barrera on the opening tune “Wacced Out Murals.” Production credits include Jack Antonoff, Mustard and Sounwave.
The album is just the cherry on top of a winning year for Lamar, who was announced as the halftime show headliner for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025.
GNX also follows an unbelievable summer for Lamar amid his feud with Drake. His chart-topper “Not Like Us” earned him a whopping five Grammy nominations, including Song Of The Year and Best Rap Performance.
“Not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent,” Lamar said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in October. “This man has morals, he has values, he believes in something, he stands on something. He’s not pandering. He’s a man who can recognize his mistakes and not be afraid to share the mistakes and can dig deep down into fear-based ideologies or experiences to be able to express them without feeling like he’s less of a man. If I’m thinking of ‘Not Like Us,’ I’m thinking of me and whoever identifies with that.”
