Brazilian footballer Jorginho has publicly claimed that a security guard working with the pop singer Chappell Roan confronted his wife and young daughter in an “extremely aggressive” manner during their stay at a hotel in São Paulo.
The alleged confrontation, as described by the Brazilian footballer in a lengthy post on Instagram, occurred during breakfast at the hotel where Jorginho, his family, and the singer had checked in during the Lollapalooza Brazil festival weekend.
The confrontation, according to Jorginho, began when his 11-year-old daughter had innocently walked past the table where the singer and her entourage had checked in for their breakfast.
“She Simply Walked Past the Table”
According to the Brazilian footballer, his wife, who had accompanied their 11-year-old daughter to the festival in São Paulo, had been excited at the prospect of meeting her favorite singer. The child had even made a sign in anticipation of the meeting.
According to Jorginho, there had been no direct interaction between his daughter and the singer. In fact, the singer and the child had not even seen each other when the child walked past the table where the singer had checked in for her breakfast.
“She didn’t even approach her,” Jorginho wrote. “She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”
The “completely disproportionate” action of the singer and her entourage, as described by Jorginho, followed the child’s simple act of walking past the table where the singer had checked in for breakfast.
Allegation of “Extremely Aggressive” Behavior
According to Jorginho, the singer had called a “large security guard,” who immediately began addressing his wife and daughter in an intimidating manner.
Apparently, the guard told Cavelli not to let her daughter “disrespect” or “harass” people.
“Honestly, I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,” Jorginho wrote.
Jorginho went on to say that his daughter was visibly shaken by what transpired.
“My 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears… My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.”
A Broader Critique of Celebrity-Fan Boundaries
Jorginho, having been in the public eye for several years as a professional footballer, said he understands the importance of boundaries between a celebrity and a fan.
“I’ve lived with football, public exposure, and well-known people for many years, and I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone.”
Jorginho went on to say that this situation was a broader critique of celebrity culture and how fans are treated.
“It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this.”
Direct Message to Chappell Roan
Jorginho concluded his statement by directly tagging Roan and giving a rather scathing rebuke.
“Without your fans, you would be nothing, and to the fans, she does not deserve your affection.”
It is still unclear whether Roan was aware of the incident at the time it occurred. For now, the singer has not made any comments on the issue.
