Ice Spice is setting the record straight.
This Bronx rapper went viral in 2022 for hits such as “Munch,” but on Tuesday, she set the record straight about rumors of her recent weight loss being because of Ozempic, saying she actually struggled with depression during this time.
She responded to a post on X that quote-retweeted a 30-second video of Ice Spice performing gym activities, including leg presses, crunches, and planks. The post stated that the video “just shows it was definitely from Ozempic,” indicating the weight loss was from Ozempic, not from the exercise itself.
“na it was depression im better now tho
,” Ice Spice responded to the post.
This post went viral, changing the focus from the weeks of rumors about Ice Spice’s weight loss to a wider discussion about depression in the entertainment world.
Ozempic, also known as semaglutide, is a medicine approved for people with type 2 diabetes. Recently, it has been used for weight loss, a topic of much discussion and rumor among famous people.
Doctors also explain that weight loss can be a symptom of depression, which is supported by the American Psychiatric Association, which states, “Major depressive disorder can cause changes in appetite and weight. Some people who have major depressive disorder lose weight because of a decrease in appetite.”
Although Ice Spice still hasn’t discussed her depression, her short post indicates she is now in a much better place.
