HBCU women’s basketball player has a personal connection to WNBA All-Star Game

A key member of an HBCU women’s hoops squad saw a WNBA All-Star in person this past weekend.

Naturally, that WNBA All-Star is her older sister.

Alabama State guard Ashley Gray was in Indianapolis to watch her big sister, Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, participate in the W’s All-Star weekend festivities. Allisha Gray was attempting to defend her Skills Challenge and Three-Point Shootout championships. Gray was also a starter for Team Collier in Saturday’s All-Star game.

The younger Gray, a rising senior, started nine games for the Lady Hornets last season, scoring a season-high 10 points in a 70-61 loss to Grambling Feb. 8.
