HBCU football game moved to NFL stadium

A potentially key HBCU football contest will be played in an NFL stadium this fall.

A report from Kevin Batiste Jr. of WAFB-9 in Baton Rouge states that Southern’s Oct. 11 game at Bethune-Cookman has been moved to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Florida. The game is scheduled for a 4 pm EST kickoff.

The game, called the Tampa Bay Classic, will mark the second time in three seasons Southern and BCU will play in an NFL stadium. The Jaguars and Wildcats faced off at Jacksonville’s TIAA Bank Field in 2023.
