Grambling wins 2025 SWAC Soccer Championship, punches ticket to NCAA Tournament

Grambling State’s women’s soccer team claimed the 2025 SWAC Tournament Championship on Sunday, defeating top-seeded Jackson State 2–1 at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.

The Lady Tigers set the tone early and never looked back, scoring in both halves while maintaining defensive discipline to secure the conference crown.

Grambling State dominated possession for much of the match, controlling tempo in the midfield and limiting Jackson State’s opportunities. Freshman standout Liana Bryant opened the scoring in the 14th minute to give GSU a 1–0 advantage.

In the second half, Chloe Bryant extended the lead in the 68th minute off an assist from Nyla Dore-Anderson, providing crucial breathing room down the stretch.

Jackson State trimmed the deficit to 2–1 in the 86th minute on a goal from Kaila Tablado, but the Lady Tigers’ defense—anchored by Kaylen Jankans, Taya Sands, and Cariana Pou, with Kaia Bace standing tall in goal—held firm to close out the win.

Grambling finished with 10 total shots, including five on target, while holding Jackson State to just two shots and one on goal.

With the victory, Grambling State completes an undefeated run through SWAC play and earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Tigers will learn their first-round matchup during Monday’s selection announcement.
