Former Delaware State quarterback draws interest from HBCU national champions

It didn’t take long for former Delaware State starting quarterback Marqui Adams to gain interest in the transfer portal.

Adams, who announced his departure from Delaware State Friday night, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he received offers from defending Celebration Bowl champion Jackson State and SWAC West winner Southern.

Adams was named to FCS Central’s all-freshman team in 2023, completing 110 of 185 passes for 1452 yards and 9 touchdowns in 11 games. He only played six games in 2024, completing 92 of 157 passes for 1031 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Adams’ exit from Delaware State came as the Hornets announced the commitment of former Sacramento State quarterback Kaiden Bennett, a dual-threat who led Sac State to the FCS playoffs in 2023.
