Former CIAA star signs two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans

Day one of NFL free agency sees former CIAA star Joshua Williams, entering his fifth season in the professional ranks, on the move to the AFC South after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Williams has signed a two-year deal for an undisclosed amount with the Tennessee Titans.

A Fayetteville State standout, Williams played for the Broncos from 2018-2021, helping lead the team to the CIAA championship game each year.

In his college career, he recorded 79 total tackles (55 solo tackles), 4.0 tackles for loss, five interceptions, and 17 pass breakups.

The former Bronco entered the 2022 NFL Draft, being selected in the fourth round by the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming just the second player in program history to be drafted to the NFL.

Winning was a normal occurrence in Williams’ first two NFL seasons, claiming Super Bowls each season, playing a significant role in the team’s first title win.

In the 2022 AFC Championship game, Williams made a game-defining play, collaborating with former Howard defensive back by hauling in a pass he deflected for an interception to help the Chiefs secure the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

While Williams was fell by the waist side in the Chiefs’ secondary unit, he made the most of his opportunities on special teams in his final seasons with the team, making some key plays to help flip field position.

He joins a Tennessee Titans team that finished the 2025 season with a 3-14 overall record, snagging the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
