First DI HBCU women’s wrestling program lands recruit. She is an Olympic hopeful

The first NCAA Division I HBCU women’s wrestling program has signed its first athlete.

Delaware State has announced the commitment of Louise Juitt of Belton, Missouri, as the program’s first wrestler.

Juitt, ranked No. 3 among 140-lb. female wrestlers in America, was named the Kansas City Star’s female student athlete of the year for 2024-25 and is the Missouri all-time leader in wins by a female wrestler.

Juitt is the first signing under head coach Kenya Sloan, a former NAIA wrestling champion who was an assistant at D1 Sacred Heart last season.
