“Electric” Chris Mosley runs North Carolina Central to MEAC/SWAC Challenge victory

Chris Mosley was thought of as North Carolina Central’s best-kept secret coming into the 2025 football season.

The secret is a little harder to keep following the redshirt senior’s 15-carry, 174-yard, one touchdown performance in the Eagles’ 31-14 victory over Southern in Saturday’s Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge.

“He wasn’t used to getting the ball that much,” Central head coach Trei Oliver joked. “He had some big ones for us.”

“My main focus in the running back room was to be electric,” the Fort Worth, Texas native said of his efforts Saturday night. “I wanted give those guys energy, show them that we’re here, we came to play, and I think we did that.”

Mosley was exciting in limited action for NCCU last season, carrying the ball 24 times for 262 yards, more than 10 yards per carry. Starting hot in 2025, that average continued to flourish as he led an Eagle ground attack that churned out 231 yards rushing. That helped Central win the time of possession battle 35:06 to 24:54.

“It starts with the o-line. We’ve got the best o-line in the MEAC so running behind them, it makes my job easier,” Mosley said. “All I have to do is make one or two miss and I’ve already got the speed, so the rest is history.”
