Disney has released a trailer and poster for their live-action remake of Moana. This will allow fans to see more of the upcoming film, which is set for release this summer.
The role of Moana, the brave wayfinder, is played by Catherine Lagaʻaia. Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui, the shape-shifting demigod.

Today, Disney has released a featurette that shows some of the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating this film. This featurette, titled “Artistry of Moana,” includes interviews with Johnson, Lagaʻaia, Kail, McGregor, and Nonosina Liufau.
The film features John Tui as Chief Tui, Moana’s father. Frankie Adams plays her mom, Sina. Rena Owen plays Gramma Tala.
Thomas Kail directs the live-action remake. Kail has won numerous awards, including Emmys and Tonys. He is known for creating the hit Broadway show Hamilton. The producers are Johnson, Garcia, Flynn, Garcia, and Miranda. Kail, Sheldon, Newirth, and Auliʻi Cravalho are the executive producers. She voiced Moana in the original Moana films.
Miranda, Foaʻi, and Mancina have written the music. Mancina has written the score as well.
The live-action remake will only be available to view on July 10, 2026.
