A woman has filed a lawsuit against Sean Combs, alleging he threatened to kill her as he dangled her over the 17th-floor balcony of his ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s Los Angeles apartment, according to court documents obtained by Rolling Stone.
Fashion designer Bryana “Bana” Bongolan seeks $10 million in new lawsuit
Fashion designer Bryana “Bana“ Bongolan filed a 17-page lawsuit against Combs in Los Angeles in November, alleging sexual battery, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress, per Rolling Stone. According to the complaint, she is seeking $10 million in damages from the Bad Boy Records founder over emotional distress that she claims she endured as a result of the alleged incident.
Combs, 55, “firmly denies” the allegations while being held in jail on sex trafficking and racketeering charges with no bail.
“Anyone has the right to file a lawsuit, regardless of the evidence they may or may not have,” an attorney from Combs’ legal team said in a statement provided to Rolling Stone. “Since last year, Ms. Bongolan has expressed an intention to sue Mr. Combs and has sought legal representation to pursue her claims. Mr. Combs firmly denies these serious allegations and remains confident they will ultimately be proven baseless.”
Bryana Bongolan details alleged incident involving Combs
Bongolan befriended Ventura, 38, after they worked together in 2014. In the lawsuit, she claims she became aware of Combs’ alleged abusive behavior toward Ventura after seeing bruises and witnessing several disturbing incidents between them. She stated that other people’s alleged experiences with the music mogul also tipped her off, including rapper Kid Cudi, who confirmed to The New York Times that his car exploded right around the time he had a brief fling with Ventura, according to Rolling Stone.
The fashion designer allegedly witnessed Combs’ dangerous demeanor on Sept. 26, 2016, when she and her girlfriend had slept over Ventura’s Los Angeles apartment. Bongolan claims she awoke to the Harlem native “violently” shouting and banging on the front door. The lawsuit claims that after Combs entered the apartment, he allegedly grabbed her by her armpits and “lifted her up on the banister of the 17th floor balcony, while repeatedly yelling, ‘Do you know what the fuck you did? Do you know what the fuck you did?’”
More on the lawsuit’s details
Bongolan, who is under 5 feet tall and weighs less than 100 pounds, allegedly struggled to release herself, but Combs “overpowered her,” she claims in the suit. Bangolan claims in the complaint that during the alleged altercation, Ventura was locked in her bedroom and came out screaming for Combs to stop. The lawsuit also alleges that Ventura informed him that Bongolan’s girlfriend was in the bathroom and could overhear what was happening.
“Recognizing the threat of so many witnesses to his assault, [Combs] pulled Ms. Bongolan back over the balcony,” the lawsuit claims. “But he did not release her. In a last fit of violence, he slammed Ms. Bongolan onto the balcony’s patio furniture, including a table.”
Bongolan’s alleged experience with Combs was shared in detail by her attorney in the suit, who claims that Combs had clear intentions to kill his client by having her dangling over a multistory balcony.
“The only purpose of dangling someone over a balcony is to actually kill them or to intentionally terrorize them and rob them of any concept of dominion over their own bodily autonomy and safety,” attorney James R. Nikraftar of Miller Barondess said in the suit, per Rolling Stone. “Ms. Bongolan refuses to allow this fear to control the rest of her life and brings this action to demand that Mr. Combs takes responsibility for the trauma he intentionally and maliciously” inflicted.
