Enhypen fans are devastated after learning that Heeseung plans to leave the popular South Korean K-Pop boy band to pursue a solo career.
What did Heeseung’s agency say about the singer leaving the group?
On Tuesday, Heeseung’s agency, BELIFT LAB, confirmed the news in a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, as well as other official channels, according to Billboard and The Independent.
The company stated that the decision was made based on the group’s future goals and that Heeseung, 24, had his own musical aspirations.
“Through in-depth discussions with each of the members about the future they envision and the direction of the team, it became clear that HEESEUNG has his own distinct musical vision and we have decided to respect it,” the company said.
BELIFT LAB confirmed that Heeseung will leave the group, but will remain signed to the label as he prepares for his solo career. Enhypen will continue to operate as a six-member group.
“It’s difficult to relay the whole process through a short notice, but this decision comes after extensive deliberation. We understand that this news is a lot to process and may be received with mixed reactions. Nevertheless, we hope you understand that this decision was made for the future of ENHYPEN and HEESEUNG,” BELIFT LAB continued.
“We ask for ENGENE’s continued love and support for ENHYPEN and HEESEUNG as they start a new chapter of their journey,” the company concluded.
What did fans say about Heeseung leaving Enhypen?
After the news broke, Enhypen fans were shocked and upset, sharing their thoughts on the beloved boy band breaking up.
“WHAT?!?!? I think the fans deserve a better explanation cuz this is genuinely coming out of nowhere for them im so shocked by this news,” one person wrote in part in Korean on X, per Billboard and The Independent.
Another added in Korean, “This is just so sudden and embarrassing…??? I didn’t see any signs at all that Hee-seung was going to do solo activities, what is this??? There wasn’t even a hint at the recent fansign… This has to be a joke, right??”
Some fans questioned BELIFT LAB and whether the company forced Heeseung to leave the group, and that he could have stayed with Enhypen while working on a solo album.
“hey @BELIFTLAB why tf did u suggest heeseung leave enhypen just so he can release his solo work? yall overworked them too much that they had no time to take a vacation nor even pursue their own solo works. do you even realize solo stans will attack him now more than ever,” one user said.
“Why would you suggest that for him to release music according to his own musical vision, he has to leave the group? This is what your statement is giving belift. He can still release music, even if it’s different from the group’s usual sound, while still being a member,” another user wrote.
“HEE CAN DO HIS SOLO DEBUT WHILE BEING IN ENHYPEN !!! Why does he need to leave Enha ????” a third user wrote.
What did Heeseung say to his fans?
Heeseung addressed the fans, who are referred to as ENGENE, in a statement written in Korean on the group’s Weverse platform.
“The six years I’ve spent have been filled with moments so overwhelming and precious that it’s hard to fully put them into words,” Heeseung began.
“Thanks to the members who shared countless emotions with me and to all of you Engene who always filled every empty space with your support, I was able to take step after step toward a dream that once felt impossible to reach,” he wrote. “That time will remain one of the shining moments in my life that I’ll never forget. I never want to forget those moments, and I want to continue being one person who cheers for Enhypen more than anyone else.”
