Courtney Clenney appeared in court Friday for a motions hearing before her murder trial on charges stemming from the stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli.
The 29-year-old OnlyFans model is charged with second-degree murder in the 2022 stabbing death of Obumseli inside the Miami apartment they shared.
Clenney claims she acted in self-defense and even claims she threw the knife that killed her boyfriend.
Before the proceedings began, Clenney made faces at people in the courtroom, sticking out her tongue and puckering up like she wanted to kiss someone. Not sure who she is kissing.
Judge Denies Motion To Strike Prosecution Expert
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Andrea Wolfson denied the defense’s motion to strike the prosecution’s expert witness, so Dr. Michael Brannon will continue to be involved in the case against Courtney Clenney.
The defense objected to Dr. Brannon’s involvement in the case because of his past with the defense’s proposed expert witness, Dr. Lenore Walker. Dr. Brannon sued Dr. Walker for defamation 22 years ago, but the case was settled with an agreement not to badmouth each other personally.
Walker testified on Friday that it would make her uncomfortable to stay on the case with Brannon. Brannon testified, however, that “there’s no reason why both sides can’t continue if everybody keeps it professional.”
Brannon has testified in several cases on Court TV trials before, including those in which Sarah Boone and Marcia Thompson were defendants.
Some recordings are barred, others are allowed
Clenney’s legal team won’t have to contend with some of the recordings the prosecution wanted to enter into evidence. The recordings, made by Obumseli without Clenney’s knowledge, were illegal surreptitious recordings, according to Clenney’s legal team, and should be excluded.
Wolfson ruled on Friday to exclude most of the recordings, but recordings made in the lobby and on the couple’s apartment balcony can be used, as there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in those locations.
Trial Set For Spring
Clenney’s trial is set to begin in the spring. She is scheduled to appear in court in March for a status hearing.
