Apple TV has dropped the first teaser trailer for its upcoming Cape Fear series with Amy Adams and Javier Bardem, and Bardem seems to have a villainous turn that looks as unsettling as can be.
The series is inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 remake of the 1962 film. Both films are based on the novel, The Executioners. Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles and CCH Pounder also star.
What will the ‘Cape Fear’ series be about?
Per Apple TV’s description, “a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.”
When does ‘Cape Fear’ premiere on Apple TV+?
The limited series debuts on June 5 with two episodes. The rest of the season airs each Friday until the finale on July 31.
The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who produced the 1991 film, as well as Scorsese. The series creator, Nick Antosca, is the showrunner, and produces with Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. Morten Tyldum directs the pilot and executive produces.
Cape Fear is produced by Universal Studio Group’s UCP, where Antosca is under an overall deal, and Amblin Television.
