Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Finalize Divorce Settlement After Eight Years

Hollywood’s former golden couple, Brad Pitt, 61, and Angelina Jolie, 49, have reached a divorce settlement, according to People magazine. This milestone comes eight years after Jolie, the star of Maria, filed for divorce in 2016 following two years of marriage.

The finalized agreement was signed on December 30, as confirmed by Jolie’s legal team. In a statement to People, Jolie’s attorney James Simon shared:

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The road to resolution has been a lengthy one, marked by ongoing legal disputes and attempts at alternative dispute resolution, including a jury trial requested by both parties and a proposed mediation.

Pitt, whose representative declined to comment on the report, shares six children with Jolie: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.

Although they were declared legally single in 2019, the ex-couple has continued to be entangled in legal battles, including over Château Miraval, the French winery they once co-owned.

Pitt has since moved on romantically, dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022, while Jolie has focused on her career and family.

The finalized settlement marks a significant chapter’s closure in what has been one of Hollywood’s most publicized breakups. For now, both stars appear focused on the next steps in their lives, away from the courtroom spotlight.
