President Joe Biden has granted clemency to Black Mafia Family (BMF) co-founder Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who was released from federal prison during the pandemic in 2020 and ordered to serve the rest of his sentence on house arrest.
It is part of President Biden’s effort to pardon prisoners like Flenory who have been on house arrest since the pandemic, 11 Alive reported. The scripted, 50 Cent-produced BMF TV series on Starz follows the Black Mafia Family, including Terry Flenory and his older brother, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory
Flenory was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison in 2008 along with his brother. They were accused of leading an international drug trafficking operation.
“Now It’s official! @realbigmeechmom I understand you were excited, so last week you let the cat out the bag. 😂
It’s been a journey, but prayer and unwavering faith beyond mere human comprehension got us to this point,” Flenory wrote in an Instagram post after receiving the President’s pardon. “Never once acted in my own ability nor doing anything to anyone to help myself. So the gloves are off 🏴🏴🏴 the gag orders are up 😂 and all the naysayers have to suck it up. 👀 #godisgood”
Although Flenory’s brother was not pardoned and remains imprisoned, he was ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence at a Miami residential reentry program back in October, which could eventually led to his release.
In 2020, the U.S. Attorney argued that Big Meech should stay in prison due to being a suspect in the murder of two men, including a man who worked as a bodyguard for Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to WXYZ Detroit. However, attorney Wade Fink fought for Big Meech, saying he’s “a loyal and humble and good person at his core.”
“He wants to use the stature he has built for good,” Fink added. “And I believe that because I have gotten to know him. The person who doesn’t know him is the United States Attorney.”
