Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a jab at YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on Sunday after he asked fans to boycott the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Bad Bunny by calling the Puerto Rican rapper a “fake American citizen.”
Paul shared his thoughts on social media before the big game, urging people to turn off the halftime show featuring Bad Bunny because he hates America and to send a message to corporations.
“Purposefully turning off the halftime show,” Paul said on social media. “Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them). You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”
Ocasio-Cortez fired back at Paul with a jab of her own.
“A ‘fake American citizen?’ Didn’t you MOVE to Puerto Rico to avoid paying your taxes while kids across America go hungry? Meanwhile, Benito actually funds low-income kids’ access to arts and sports programs, while you defund them. Of course you’re mad. He makes you look small.”
