‘American Fiction’s Cord Jefferson To Direct Meryl Streep In Netflix Series ‘The Corrections’

Meryl Streep is heading to Netflix in a series adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s The Corrections.

The casting was announced on Thursday, with Netflix’s Tudum confirming that the series is directed by HBO’s Watchmen writer and American Fiction screenwriter/director Cord Jefferson. Franzen has written the script for The Corrections based on his own novel.

What is ‘The Corrections’ about?

According to Netflix, “The Corrections is a sharply comic portrait of a Midwestern family whose three unmoored adult siblings desperately resist their mother’s wish for one last Christmas together–each undone by the delusional ambitions that were supposed to save them from becoming their parents.”

The book is described as being “rife with comedy and tragedy,” with the three siblings, Gary, Chip and Denise, and their parents Enid and Alfred, facing their own issues. Some of those issues: a possible affair, job loss, depression, and in Alfred’s case, dementia.

Streep serves as executive producer with Jefferson, Franzen, Mark Roybal, Paul Lee and Nicole Clemens.

More casting news will be released in the coming weeks.
