Larenz Tate On Reuniting With Nia Long For New Netflix Rom-Com Inspired By Maxwell And Being Bevel’s New Face

Larenz Tate has long been a staple on screen, with a career spanning decades and roles that continue to resonate across generations. From cult classics to modern-day hits, the actor has maintained both cultural relevance and a loyal fan base—something fans often point to when they say he hasn’t aged a bit.

As he continues to take on new roles and reunite with familiar faces, Tate is also aligning himself with partnerships that reflect his lifestyle and values, including his latest collaboration with Bevel.

On reconnecting with Nia Long for an upcoming rom-com

Tate’s acting career began at the age of 10 when he made his small-screen debut in a Christmas episode of The Twilight Zone in 1985.

By the 1990s, he was inescapably starring in cult classics like Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and no one can forget him as Frankie Lymon in Why Do Fools Fall in Love.

The Power Book II: Ghost actor continues to grace our screens, whether he’s playing Councilman Rashad Tate in the aforementioned Starz series, or reconnecting with his Love Jones co-star, Nia Long, in an upcoming rom-com inspired by R&B singer Maxwell’s classic album, Urban Hang Suite.

“The reconnection and reunion with Nia on screen symbolizes cultural impact and cinematic treasure that lives forever,” he told Blavity’s Shadow and Ac in a recent interview.

This collab is just one example of Larenz Tate’s intentionality in partnering with brands

The premium, Black-founded men’s grooming brand Bevel has tapped Tate as the face of its Bevel Body Cream.

“Maintaining myself physically and mentally has always been essential to sustaining a life and career that I can be proud of,” he said.

“So far, so good, but I know I have to stay consistent,” he continued. “Having access to products that are made with you in mind makes taking care of yourself a lot easier. That’s one of the reasons I teamed up with Bevel. They understand what our skin needs, and you see that in products like their body cream.”

And when it comes to cultural impact, Tate has it, with fans always noting that he hasn’t aged one bit, which is another reason why partnering with Bevel was a no-brainer.

“Bevel has done an amazing job in identifying the needs of Black men, and it was an ideal opportunity to align with a brand that I have always admired,” he said. “It’s important to be a part of the self-care narrative because it’s a part of my daily life. I’m excited to share the journey.”

Tate added, “I decide partnerships and projects that are authentic and meaningful. Partnerships that are rooted in connection, purpose, and overall mission.”
