U.S. federal officials have detained the grandniece of murdered Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, along with her mother, in Los Angeles because the State Department stripped them of their legal residency status due to their connections to the regime. The announcement came out over the weekend.
According to the announcement, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, aged 25, and her mother, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, have been arrested by ICE following their termination of the legal status to stay within the borders of the United States, which was symbolized by their green cards.
Afshar was identified by the State Department as supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is considered a designated terrorist organization.
The young woman arrived in the United States via a student visa and was later granted a green card by the Biden administration back in 2023.
On her social media accounts, it was seen that Hosseiny enjoyed the privileges of her relative, having lived a lavish life in the U.S., traveling by private jet, hanging out on fancy boats, and attending music events. She visited Miami, Alaska, and even Las Vegas, where she attended a Formula 1 race, without any sign of employment on her social media pages.
General Qasem Soleimani was a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Forces and orchestrated the operations of Iranian proxies in the region before he was assassinated by a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport in January 2020.
Previously, Afshar referred to the country as the “Great Satan,” a term often used by Iranian revolutionaries.
