Hulu has passed on one Kim Kardashian and La La Anthony series, but is in development on another.
Group Chat, the Hulu pilot written by Kenya Barris and produced by Kardashian, based on Anthony’s book, The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness, was not picked up by the Disney streamer.
It had been in development for a couple of years under Kardashian’s first-look deal at 20th Television.
Who would have starred in ‘Group Chat’?
Anthony starred in the series with Yaya DaCosta, Melanie Liburd, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Stephanie Suganami, and Kardashian was set to narrate and guest star.
Despite the pilot not moving to series, Anthony and Kardashian are working on another project at Hulu.
They are executive producing a potential series from Girls Trip and Harlem writer Tracy Oliver, which is currently untitled. 20th Television is also the studio for this project, and Oliver is the writer and also executive produces.
What to know about the new Hulu project
Here’s the logline for the untitled project, per Variety:
When the Bay Area’s most sought-after crisis manager for professional athletes finds her own life upended by her husband’s scandal, she turns to the three women who’ve been by her side through every version of her life. Together they navigate dating, ambition, motherhood, and the glamorous mess of starting over.
No word yet on whether Kardashian or Anthony would appear in the series.
Oliver was also behind BET+’s The First Wives Club series and has written other films, such as 2019’s Little.
