Lashana Lynch has been cast in Netflix and the BBC’s upcoming sequel series to Peaky Blinders. The series follows the events of the recently released Netflix film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. It will take ten years after the events of that film.
Original writer and creator Steven Knight is helming the two new seasons, set in the 1950s and featuring the Shelby family’s new generations. Jamie Bell is leading the series, taking over the role of Duke Shelby. Conrad Khan played the character in the sixth season of the OG series, and Barry Keoghan played the character in The Immortal Man.
Who else will star with Jamie Bell in the series?
New announced stars are Lynch, Charlie Heaton, Jessica Brown Findlay and Lucy Karczewski. No details are known yet about their roles.
What’s the plot of the ‘Peaky Blinders’ sequel series at Netflix?
Here’s the logline for the series:
In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.
In a statement, Knight said, “I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s. We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have the incredible Charlie Heaton also leading the cast. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”
The series is produced by Banjay UK’s Kudos and Garrison Drama for Netflix and the BBC. It is being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.
Both seasons will have six, 60-minute episodes and premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK and on Netflix elsewhere.
