A 16-year-old girl was fatally shot Saturday morning at an apartment complex in the unincorporated suburban area of Glenview, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. after reports of a possible gunshot victim in the 3600 block of South Salem Walk. The teenager was found with a gunshot wound. The teenager was then transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The teenager was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The teenager was identified as Lilly B. Bova by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A person of interest is being sought in the shooting. However, few details have been released about the circumstances of the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Police detectives at 708-865-4896.
A GoFundMe page was set up to assist with the burial and funeral expenses for the Bova family. The loss is described as “unfathomable,” and Lilly’s father, Anthony Bova, should not have to incur the expense of burying his 16-year-old daughter.
