Melanie Martinez has released her fourth studio album, ‘HADES.’
Melanie Martinez’s new album ‘HADES’ has been described as “a cracked mirror” that delves into the realms of identity, technology, and society. “I started this album thinking I was writing a futuristic dystopia, but I realized I was just documenting the world we’re already living in,” Melanie Martinez says of the album. “Beneath the rage, it’s a refusal to go numb, a call to feel, to see clearly, and to ask if we can still create something beautiful from the chaos we’ve been given.”
Melanie Martinez’s new single ‘POSSESSION’ marks the singer’s return after a three-year hiatus and has garnered 2.7 million Spotify streams in the first 24 hours. ‘POSSESSION’ has garnered more than 33 million streams worldwide (12.5 million in the U.S.) so far. Her second single, ‘DISNEY PRINCESS,’ has garnered 11.1 million streams worldwide (4.1 million in the U.S.) so far.
“UNCANNY VALLEY,” the last song Melanie Martinez wrote for the album, has become its central theme, delving into the impact of social media and technology on beauty and self-worth.
An intimate album release event has also been scheduled for April 8th at the GRAMMY Museum’s Clive Davis Theater, where Melanie Martinez will talk about the making of the album and perform a mini live set in the 200-seat theater.
Melanie Martinez’s new album ‘HADES’ consists of 18 tracks, including “GARBAGE” and “IS THIS A CULT?” “WHITE BOY WITH A GUN,” “MONOPOLY MAN,” “THE PLAGUE,” and “THE LAST TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH.”
