Anthony Norman is introducing himself to the country as the unsuspecting star of Jury Duty Season 2 on Prime Video. Norman is becoming a household name after getting caught up in a prank series, where he thinks he’s hired as an employee of a family-owned company named Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce.
What is Anthony Norman’s role in ‘Jury Duty’ Season 2?
In Season 2 of Jury Duty, also known as Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, Norman is hired as a temporary employee who helps organize the company’s retreat, which is followed by a camera crew during their trip. However, Norman has no idea that he has been lured into a staged prank, where all his colleagues are playing as actors, and the company is totally fake, according to Decider.
As the Los Angeles Times reported, Norman and 10,000 other people applied for the job, thinking they were hired to be part of a real company.
After being hired for the fake job, Norman is led to believe that the company is being featured in a documentary about a small business. He then shares some details about his background while sitting in front of the cameras. The 25-year-old Nashville native says he was working temporary jobs for two years the latest opportunity fell into his lap.
Producer Todd Schulman also said Norman was selected because he showed “incredible decency and humanity that really makes you just root for them,” per Decider.
Early in the show, Norman shows his dedication to the company. The Tennessee native learns about a possible sale of Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce and makes it clear that he’ll do whatever it takes to save the business.
“If they think they can just come in and do whatever they feel like they want to do, they’re in for a rude awakening,” Norman said as he stood up for his colleagues, according to TV Insider. “I care about y’all. This is a family.”
What happened during Season 1 of ‘Jury Duty’?
Prime Video’s hidden-camera series pulled off a similar prank on another unsuspecting star, Ronald Gladden, in Season 1 of Jury Duty. Gladden was selected to serve in a staged jury duty.
The jurors in that season were actors; the case was fictional, so the details of the trial were of course scripted. Much like what is now happening to Norman, viewers fell in love with Gladden after seeing his stint on the show, TV Insider reported.
