Olivia Dunne

Olivia Dunne is trading in her gym mats for a life on sun-kissed shores.

The former LSU gymnast and social media influencer has created a whole lot of online buzz this week after giving fans a sneak peek at her scenes for the upcoming Baywatch reboot, filmed on the coast of Malibu. Dunne starred in the iconic red swimsuit as a lifeguard, posing on the beach and with co-stars, including model Brooks Nader.

She captioned the pics: “Officially on duty… don’t drown! 😉,” referencing the original Baywatch saga, which aired between 1989 and 2001. The pics are Dunne’s acting debut for the much-anticipated 2026-27 reboot of the classic series, a combination of old and new with a new cast featuring social media influencer talent.

And respond online, as fans and critics alike have their say on Dunne’s move from college sports to acting.

“Livy Dunne on the set of the new Baywatch movie. Maybe society is healing,” one commenter said.

Another commenter took a rather dramatic approach: “Rolling in a 4wd wheelchair to the shore, dumping my pathetic husk of a body onto the sand to let the waves take me, then suddenly re-animating when she saves me like that kid in the Sandlot.”

A third observed, “Some athletes were just born to wear a certain team’s uniform. And you know it when you see it.”

Dunne, who gained a massive following during her college days at LSU on social media platforms TikTok and Instagram, has emerged as a prominent figure of the NIL era, transforming her sporting career into brand sponsorships, which are now followed by entertainment ventures.

A new Baywatch series, set to air on Fox during the 2026-27 television season, offers a modern take on the popular beach drama. The plot revolves around Hobie Buchannon, who becomes a Baywatch captain, following in his father Mitch Buchannon’s footsteps. His life takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of his daughter, Charlie, who wants to preserve the family tradition of being a lifeguard.

The new series of Baywatch, which Fox Entertainment and Fremantle have produced, has been written by Matt Nix, who is also the executive producer of the series, along with McG, who directed the pilot, and the original creators of Baywatch, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, along with executive producers Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.
