Paramount+ has unveiled a unique first look at the eighth and final season of its original dramatic series, “The Chi.” The move allows fans to get a sneak peek into what’s in store in the final season as production formally commences.
The final season commenced in January, as filming began for the long-running show. The upcoming season is said to be the most intense yet, as it takes place during what Paramount+ calls “the coldest winter ever.” Life-and-death decisions will be at the center of this season.
The final season is said to explore themes of legacy, conflict, joy, and pain as they converge in what is expected to be the most emotionally charged season yet.
“The Chi” stars Jacob Latimore, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Hannaha Hall, and Jason Weaver.
The show is created and executive-produced by Lena Waithe under her Hillman Grad banner. Additional executive producers include co-showrunners Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel from “Hillianaire Productions” and “Uncut Gems.”
Additional executive producers include Common, an Oscar and Emmy winner; Aaron Kaplan; Rick Famuyiwa; Resheida Brady-Anderson; Derek Dudley; and Shelby Stone from ID8 Multimedia. Other executive producers include Naomi Funabashi and Rishi Rajani. James Rogers III also joins as an executive producer.
Directors Deondray Gossfield and Quincy LeNear Gossfield return to helm multiple episodes and have been promoted to co-executive producers for this final season.
The Chi is produced by 20th Television. The previous seasons are currently available to stream with the Paramount+ Premium Plan.
