Mississippi Valley State All-SWAC guard Michael James, one of the most explosive scorers in the country, intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
James, a junior, finished this past season ranked No. 15 nationally in scoring, averaging 21.4 points per game while carrying the Delta Devils’ offense on a nightly basis.
He was named First Team All-SWAC and earned SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors, cementing himself as one of the premier mid-major guards in college basketball.
James knocked down 75 three-pointers during the season and shot an impressive 91.9 percent from the free-throw line. He also contributed 3.3 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per contest, and averaged 1.6 steals per game while playing a key role on both ends of the floor.
James delivered several standout performances throughout the season, including a 35-point outing against MUW and multiple 30-point games during non-conference and SWAC play. His consistent scoring ability helped keep the Delta Devils competitive against a challenging schedule that included several Power Four opponents.
