The Alabama A&M women’s basketball team’s historic season will continue into postseason play.
The Bulldogs have earned a bid to the 2026 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), adding another milestone to an already impressive year in Huntsville.
Alabama A&M (22–10) will open the tournament against top-seeded Brigham Young University (22–11) on Thursday, March 19, at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah. Tip-off is set for the evening, and the game will stream live on ESPN+.
What is the WBIT?
The WBIT is a 24-team tournament that offers both national exposure and the opportunity to compete against a high-level opponent.

The selection marks another impressive step for the program under head coach Dawn Thornton, who led the Bulldogs to back-to-back 20-win seasons and a SWAC regular season championship.
The Bulldogs were eliminated in the semifinals of the SWAC Tournament by eventual conference champion Southern.
Now, with their postseason hopes renewed, the Bulldogs are set to test themselves once again on the national stage — with a chance to cap their record-setting season in style.
