Bobby Collins resigns as Shaw men’s basketball coach

Shaw University’s men’s basketball program will be under new management next season

As reported by HBCU basketball expert Olivia Antilla, Bobby Collins has resigned after six seasons of leading the Bears program. Antilla also reports that former Winston-Salem State standout WyKevin Bazemore will serve as acting head coach.

Collins, 60, was hired by Shaw during the pandemic hiatus of 2020-21 and coached the Bears to a 66-66 record over five seasons. Shaw, the CIAA Southern Division’s fourth seed, was upset by North No. 5 seed Lincoln (Pa.) 69-63 on Tuesday in the tournament’s opening round.

Collins previously coached Hampton, winning the MEAC title and earning an NCAA tournament appearance in 2006, as well as Maryland Eastern Shore.
