Ryan Garcia is getting ready to step into the boxing ring with Mario Barrios on Saturday night, while fans are still raising questions about his political association and prior racist comments. Garcia, who recently tried to disassociate himself from Donald Trump, has also been known as a strong supporter of the controversial President in the past.
What did Ryan Garcia say about his support for Donald Trump?
In a social media post he published on Jan. 31, Garcia said he is “reclining his past support for Donald Trump” because of the President’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Anyone that was involved in any thing to do with that island and what they were doing, I just can’t support in anyway. Children need to be protected, everyone knew better f**k that. Justice for all,” Garcia wrote on X.

He also followed up with another post to make it clear that he can’t give Trump the benefit of the doubt.
“To everyone saying that trump is innocent and was proven false. I’m not taking chances,” he wrote. “I only stand with the kingdom of God you guys can go to hell and back defending your political figures and parties.”

What are the controversial comments Ryan Garcia made?
The 27-year-old California native, who has Mexican roots, has faced backlash through the years for his support of Trump and for his hateful comments about various groups of people. According to The Times, Garcia had one of his controversial moments when he said the LGBT community is “a cult.” He also made racist, hateful comments about Muslims and about Black people.
In 2024, Garcia had a deeply disturbing racist tantrum on social media.
“I hate n****s … Hey, let’s go bring George Floyd back to life and kill that n***** again,” he said on an X space at that time, per Yahoo Sports.
After he initially refused to apologize, the boxer continued to face a massive amount of backlash from the public and eventually backtracked on his troubling comments.
