Camila Cabello Speaks Out on Cuba Crisis, Says People Are “Starving” and Hospitals Lack Medicine

Camila Cabello is speaking out about what is happening in Cuba and urging people to support these humanitarian efforts.

In an Instagram post, Cabello said she had a “personal responsibility” to speak out about what is happening in Cuba because she still has people there and sends them supplies.

“There is so much going on here at home and so much I can say about the heartbreaking things the immigrant community is experiencing here in the US,” Cabello wrote. “I also feel a personal responsibility to speak about what’s happening in Cuba, I still have family on the island that we speak to and send medicine, food, and clothes to.”

Cabello explained what is going on in Cuba, saying people are living in dire conditions. “The people are lacking food, medicine, and other things,” she said. “It has been 67 years of a failing dictatorship and an oppressive regime. The Cuban people are suffering in an echo chamber where no one can hear them because to speak is to risk your life.”

She said people are starving and scavenging through trash heaps for food. She revealed that families often rely on relatives abroad to ship medicine because “not even the hospitals have medicine.”

Cabello also mentioned infrastructure issues, such as prolonged power outages that cause food to spoil and limit access to water.

“The power is gone for so long that food spoils and water becomes scarce,” she said.

Cabello also said that if peaceful protesters speak out, they face severe consequences.

“When people have peacefully protested, they have disappeared or been put behind bars, some as young as 13 years old,” she said. “This is a reality where a post online costs you your life.”

Cabello said this has led many Cubans to try to escape in search of a better life.

“The Cuban people have lived without dignity and without hope for too long,” she said. “It’s no wonder so many Cubans have thrown themselves into shark-infested waters, making boats out of tires and sticks and risking their lives for freedom.”

Cabello said this is a “profound humanitarian crisis” and urged her followers to do what they can to help the hurricane’s victims.

“If you want to help and don’t know how, check the link in my story to support Caritas Cuba and their work,” she said. “If you’re able to give, any donation makes a difference.”
