One year after winning the CAA regular season championship, the North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team has had its ups and downs this season.
Friday night will go down as one of the high points as they held off Northeastern 89-86 in a triple overtime thriller.
Junior forward Paris Locke recorded a triple-double of 22 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds, while senior center Chaniya Clark buried a three-pointer with 9.3 seconds left in the third OT for the winning points.
A&T (10-15 overall, 5-9 CAA) and the Huskies were tied at 74 late in the first overtime when a wild scramble ensued in front of the Northeastern basket. Morgan Matthews threw up a shot that went in as time expired, but the officials ruled the ball was still in her hands as the buzzer went off, forcing double overtime.
Neither team held an advantage in the second overtime, and it was still tied at 86 when Clark, who was 12 of 55 on three-point attempts coming in, drained her fourth trey of the night. Clark tied Locke for the team lead in scoring with 22 points.

Northeastern’s tying three-point attempt was no good, and Club Corbett once again was the scene of another amazing finish in basketball.
