Bethune-Cookman breaks out of SWAC slump with blowout win

That losing streak didn’t last long.

After dropping its last two games to Alcorn State and Jackson State, Bethune-Cookman bounced back in a big way on Thursday night.

Jakobi Heady poured in 26 points to lead the Wildcats past Alabama State 82–71, keeping the team’s grip on first place in the SWAC standings.

Heady was sharp from the perimeter, connecting on 5 of 7 from three-point range and finishing 7 of 13 overall from the field. The junior guard also knocked down 7 of 10 free throws as Bethune-Cookman (14–13, 11–3 SWAC) notched its third straight victory.

Forward Daniel Rouzan added 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and pulled down five rebounds, while Quentin Heady chipped in 13 points and sank 5 of 6 from the line to give the Wildcats three players in double figures.

Alabama State (9–18, 6–8 SWAC) was paced by Tyler Mack’s 21 points, while Jerquarius Stanback contributed 13 points and six rebounds in the loss.
